Teambuilding & Challenge
Our student trips give young people an opportunity to step out of the classroom and challenge themselves in new ways.
Through challenge --both at a personal level and a team level--students build self-esteem and confidence. A natural outcome is students' improved cooperation and communication, and a greater feeling of community with both their peers and teachers.
Any of the following can be combined into your custom educational tour in Australia:
Paddling and Navigating Grade III-IV Rapids
The Tully River twists through emerald rainforest, and below tumbling waterfalls and offers thrilling Class III-IV rapids and reliable year-round flows. Working as a team, each
group of 6 students paddle their way down the river under the instruction of a professional guide. We see that whitewater rafting brings the river to life in a way many have neverknown and often it is while paddling rapids as a team that young people develop personal inner strength.
Colonial History Treasure Hunt
Under the guidance of a real Captain Jack Sparrow, participate in a treasure hunt in the historical Rocks area of Sydney. Learn about the city’s colonial history while encouraging resourcefulness, teamwork and fun. Sleuth to locate a secured treasure chest full of goodies.
Obstacle/Challenge Course and Raft Building
Band together in teams to make your way through an army-style obstacle course
designed to test your skill, speed and sense of teamwork. Alternatively, use your intellect and creativity in a raft-building exercise. Using only tyres, ropes and some plastic containers, you must work together to produce a floating raft for your team, and then successfully make your way across a pond!
Initiative Games with Emphasis on Problem-Solving
Initiatives are stimulating problem-solving games that help students develop their capacity to work together effectively. From fun games to more complex and higher-level tasks, these initiaves can set a tone of cooperation, combat cliques, and facilitate more positive relaionships. We can build initiatives into each day, or set aside a 1/2 or full day for this team-building time.
Urban Challenge
An urban challenge allows students who are new to city life to confidently navigate an urban environment. Students understand how to use the public transportation, learn about historical landmarks, and access interesting sites they mights have missed as a "regular" tourist. Mobile phones allow students to record their findings by photograph and remain safely in touch with group leaders.
Team Sailing
No prior experience is necessary in order to take to the sea in a sailboat. Sailing gets students cooperating, and the results are a heightened sense of comraderie and trust. Opt for a special team challenge in Sydney, or enjoy a more leisurely sail in wither Cairns or the Whitsunday Islands.
Rock Climbing and Abseiling
Starting with the basics, like how to effectively pick hand holds and how to conserve energy while climbing, students are taught how to enjoy rock climbing while staying safe. In the process, they discover that you don't need big muscles to climb well — just agility and good technique! You can also do abseiling — a slow controlled descent down our rope with a friction device - that for some can be more demanding than climbing.
