Australian Family Homestays

Perhaps the best way to experience Aussie culture and way of life is by staying with a local family. In groups of two, be welcomed for a day or two into the home of an Aussie family.

Watch a rugby game, learn to make pavlova (a traditional Aussie dessert) or have a quintessential backyard BBQ. When staying with a family, students live as the locals do and are treated as part of the family. These families appreciate hosting students as they acquire international exposure and learn a little more about the students’ culture as well.

Hand-Picked Families: All families homes have been inspected and are known personally by Small World Journeys.

Safety: Every family member over 18 is required to have a background check and a government-issued Blue Card, which permits them to work with children.

Comfort: Student pairs will have their own bed in a room that they will share together, and in many cases they will have their own room.

Teacher Options: Teacher leaders can also participate in a homestay, or relax in a nearby hotel.
