We’re a small tour company.
And we like it that way. We think you’ll like it too. Our smallness means you’re not a passenger number on one of our trips, but rather our honoured guest. We are not a “coach” company – we prefer to show you the beauty of the outdoors, and not from the window of a bus.
Expert Guides, Not “Coach Drivers”.
Our guides are more than just drivers. Most have advanced degrees in natural sciences. They are required to be naturalists, storytellers, medics, wildlife spotters, mechanics, historians, and entertainers. They have backgrounds in the natural sciences and ecotourism, and significant experience “in the bush”. Simply put, they will make your trip.
All Inclusive – No Hidden Costs.
If you are comparing tour companies, be aware of other companies’ itineraries with “free days” or filler days in which no educational content is provided.
When it comes to pricing, we lay it all out on the table. On this website and in your quotation, inclusions and exclusions are clearly outlined, so there will never be any surprises. We will always inform you up front about any optional additional activities, such as optional SCUBA diving or a photo with a koala.
Teacher and Kid-Friendly Payment Terms.
All we ask is a flat $200 AUD admin fee (total, not per person) to secure your booking….and nothing else is due until 60 days before the trip! This means you and students’ families are not under pressure to come up with deposit payments until you are sure you have the minimum number of students to run the trip.
Our Photos are Real!
Our guides, staff and guests take photos of our groups while they are having their adventures. Therefore, photos on our website of your trip are actual photos of the things you’ll see while you’re here.
We are totally committed to the safety of young people. We have been told many times that as a tour operator the systems we have in place to keep students safe are outstanding. Our guides go through regular training, and our buses undergo scheduled maintenance and checks. Our risk assessments take into account what could happen, and we prepare for what might happen so that parents and teachers can rest easy knowing students are in good hands.
We keep our guided group trips small (and if you’re a large group we split you into small buses with your own guide). This allows us freedom, flexibility and personal attention. We avoid the commercialised traps which await large tour groups. We actively support responsible, ethical and sustainable travel through our business practices, encouraging you to do the same and also, wherever possible by supporting local community projects in the destinations we visit.
Goodies for Students
Students (and teachers!) receive a BPA-free water bottle along with a cloth shopping bag in order to reduce plastic usage. Your group also gets a plot of Daintree rainforest adopted in your group’s name OR a donation to the Fitzroy Island Turtle Rehab Centre. This is part of our commitment to be a responsible and eco-friendly tour operator.
We want you to know exactly what to expect from your adventure. That’s why our detailed pre-departure information includes packing guidelines, health information, cultural and environmental guidelines, a recommended reading list, and cultural etiquette tips.
For Teachers, By Teachers
We have had a teacher has design itineraries, educational outcomes and lesson plans specifically for teachers and students. We have even aligned many of our trips with the new Australian national curriculum, so that if you’re an Australian teacher, your trip can perfectly supplement your students’ classroom learning.
